2020 Virtual Heritage Day

July 4, 2020

Heritage Day is a July 4th community celebration of Platteville’s rich history and bright future that draws more than 700 visitors annually. In 2020, we celebrated Heritage Day in a new way: virtually! On this page we invite you to explore short videos of content we have produced that is most integral to the experience of Heritage Day at the Museums, including demonstrations of mechanical musical instruments, hit-and-miss engines, corn-shellers, wool-spinning, the treadle jigsaw, The Wundo Band and more.

These short videos were woven together into a very special series of live broadcasts on July 4 on the Museums’ Facebook page and YouTube channel. The broadcasts and short videos will also be permanently posted on our website and YouTube channel for the public to enjoy after the live broadcasts on July 4th.

Heritage Day Craft Kits are available for $15 at our online Museum Store for anyone to construct several crafts while following along with the videos! (While supplies last.)

Thank you to our major broadcast sponsors, A&W Restaurant and Taco John's. Thank you also to Southwest Health, Blue Note Music, Lisle Financial, Grant County Tourism Council and Travel Wisconsin, Goodney's Garage, and J&S Mobile Blasting for their generous sponsorship support.
