Spring Reopening for Members!
June 29, 2020 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Since 1964, hundreds of thousands of adults and children have experienced the pioneer heritage of southwestern Wisconsin at The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums. Each year, new generations of visitors discover our Museums and participate in lifelong learning opportunities in natural history, cultural history, and science and industry. The effects of COVID-19 prompted Wisconsinโs Safer at Home Order and the delay of the Museumsโ May 2020 opening, but we are ready to reopen our 3-acre museum campus to members on June 29 and to all visitors on July 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Under Phase 1 of our reopening, we will adjust the way we operate in order to provide a healthy and safe environment for staff and visitors alike in accordance with the City of Plattevilleโs Pioneering Past COVID-19 Guide to Recovery. This means visitation will be by advance reservation, with restricted group sizes and mandatory masks and handwashing. We will offer self-guided tours of museum interior and exterior exhibition spaces, and train rides (weather permitting). Underground guided mine tours are on hold until a later phase of Wisconsinโs Badger Bounce Back plan. See more details on our new website, www.mining.jamison.museum, which makes online reservations and online learning easier than ever.
