Virtual Heritage Day
Heritage Day is a July 4th community celebration of Platteville’s rich history and bright future that draws more than 700 visitors annually. This year, due to COVID-19, the Museums invite you to celebrate Heritage Day in a new way: virtually! Enjoy a free online program of historic demonstrations, music by the Wundo Band, and more — all on the World Wide Web from the comfort of your home between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Our education staff will be making short videos of content most integral to the experience of Heritage Day at the Museums, including demonstrations of musical instruments, hit-and-miss engines, corn-shellers, wool-spinning, the treadle jigsaw and more. These short videos will be brought together into a very special series of live broadcasts on July 4 on the Museums’ Facebook page. The broadcasts and short videos will also be permanently posted on the Museums’ website, YouTube channel, and social media channels for the public to enjoy after the Facebook Live broadcasts on the 4th.
